AMBEWELA TOUR INDEX

There are two beautiful (some days three - with mini lake) lakes at Ambewela area. Kande Ela lake is at Mipiimana area 4 Km to Nuwaraeliya road from Ambewela. Boat service and parking facilities are available. But bathing is difficult (not necessary). Ambewela reservoir is at closed to Ambewela - New Zealand Farms. 

Elgin Waterfalls

Elgin Waterfalls is main waterfall of Sri lanka. It is at 3 Km from Ambewela Railway station. Three Kilometers are need to travel by foot along railway to Nanuoya side. Accessing via vehicle is not available. There is a large and deep bridge also closed to Elgin waterfalls.

Ambewela is at on the way of Horton plains from Nuwaraeliya. There are about 15 Km to Horton plains entrance. Totupola and Kirigalpottha mountains also parts of the Horton plains.

There are two popular farms and large grass lands available at Ambewela. New Zealand farm is at 1 Km from Ambewela railway station. Cattles, Rabbits, Pigs, Cows, Goats are available in there.

Large stow berry gardens and farm is available at Ambewela area. It is at closed to Ambewela farms and 3 Km away to Nuwaraeliya road from Ambewela railway station.

Pattipola is highest railway station of Sri Lanka. Summit level is highest railway point of Sri Lanka. Summit Level is at 4 Km away from Ambewela railway station. 18th Railway tunnel is darkest and 3rd railway tunnel of Sri Lanka.

Hakgala Botanical garden is at between Nuwaraeliya and Welimada. There is a easy way to Ambewela from Hakgala via Boragas Junction. About 10 Km from Ambewela to Hakgala.
