Pattipola Railway Tunnels

Patipola is highest railway station of Sri Lanka. Summit level and most dark railway tunnel is available at Pattipola. It is known as tunnel 18 because it is 18th tunnel from Colombo. In adition to this tunnel there are another two railway tunnels available at Pattipoala area. hose are tunnel 19 and 20. Tunnel 18 is darkest of Sri Lanka. Several specialities available in this tunnel.

Those are,

1. One side of tunnel is Nuwaraeliya District and other side is Badulla District
2. One side is wet zone and other side is dry zone
3. One side is hot and other side cool
4. Both sides are different
5. One side rainy other side sunny (probably)

Pattipola railway station is at between Ohiya and Ambewela railway stations. Pattipola is village and main accessig way is at via Ambewela. Pattipola village is at on the way to Horton Plains
