Parakumpura is a single way and sub-railway station between Nanuoya and Ambewela railway stations. This railway station had been established in after long time. Before established this railway station distance between Nanuoya and Ambewela is longest distance which have non stations in Sri Lanka.

Population of Parakumpura is lower than other places. The waterfall called Elgin is very closed to Parakumpura place. It is situated at between Ambewela and Parakumpura railway stations.
